PHREK has been involved in urban electronic music for the better part of 3 decades. Spawned in Toledo, Ohio – this Michigan resident and native, has absorbed an eclectic array of the area’s local musical offerings; Jazz, Funk, Soul, Hip Hop — and (of course) the soulful pulse of Chicago’s House movement, and the mechanized future groove of Detroit Techno. As a local community radio DJ (WEHB & WBYW Grand Rapids, Michigan), he vented his love for the genres in the music he played. The man behind 6ONE6 (Michigan Record Label) and recording artist ‘Detroit People Mover’, he has received awards and nominations at the Detroit Music Awards in 2006-07. Today he continues to honor his commitment to the label, and his personal development in urban electronic soul.
